PLEASE NOTE: The result of each draw will be emailed to all entrants; however if you prefer by post, please email retrieversecretary@gmail.com. Fees will need to be made within 48 hours of draw or you will forfeit your place. Only entries who have paid the registration fee will be entered into the draw.

THE DEFINITION OF EACH STAKE IS CONTAINED IN THE KENNEL CLUB LIMITED FIELD TRIAL REGULATION 3

All persons attending a stake do so at their own risk on the understanding that they are bound by The Kennel Club Ltd Rules and Field Trial Regulations subject to the Rules of North Western Counties Field Trials Association. Please note that the completion of an entry form constitutes the acknowledgement by the owner and where applicable their handler of the content of this schedule including information printed overleaf.

Definitions of the stakes

Open

A Stake in which dogs have the opportunity of gaining a qualification towards the title of Field Trial Champion (K Regulations refer) and towards entry in the Championship or Champion Stake for its breed; in which entry is open to all dogs of a specified breed or breeds except that such Stakes may not be confined to Any Variety Spaniel (except Spaniel (Cocker) and Spaniel (English Springer). It may be limited to a prescribed number of runners (J4 refers), in which case these shall be decided by a draw conducted in accordance with Regulation J6.i. and J6.j so that preference is given to previous performance to dogs who have gained a first, second, third or fourth award in a 24 Dop Open Stake, or first, second or third in a 12 Dog Open Stake, or first award in an All Aged or Novice Stake.

Novice

A stake which is confined to dogs which have not gained the following awards: first, second, third or fourth in a 24 Dog Open Stake, or a first, second or third in a 12 Dog Open Stake, or first in an All Aged or Novice Stake.

PLEASE NOTE: Working test awards do not count as qualifications for field trials

 

INFORMATION APPLICABLE TO RETRIEVER STAKES AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 

  1. Dogs entered at Kennel Club Licensed Field Trials must be registered at the Kennel Club in accordance with Kennel Club Regulations for Classification and Registration B.
  2. The Society may reserve to itself the right to refuse any entry except that this shall not apply in terms of the preference in the draw Regulations (ref J6.I.). The Kennel Club will be notified in writing of all such refusals with the society’s reason.
  3. In accordance with Kennel Club Field Trial Regulations the NWCFTA reserves the right to accept entries as follows:
  4. 4. If entries or nominations exceed the number of permitted runners, the right to compete in a Trial shall be decided by ballot.

ORDER OF DRAWS:
Novice: Preference in the ballot will be given in the following order:
(1) Members’ first preference dogs.
(2) Members’ second preference dogs.
(3) Non-members’ first preference dogs.
(4) Non-members’ second preference dogs.
All-Aged: Preference in the ballot will be given to dogs which have gained a field trial award, in the following order:
(1) Members.
(2) Non-members.

Open: Preference in the ballot will be given in the following order on achievement of the qualifying criteria. J6i(4)
A first, second or third in an Open Stake.
Or any two of the following awards a first in an All Aged Stakes, a second in an All Aged Stake, a first in a Novice Stakes.
(1) Members’ first preference dog which have gained a first, second or third award in an Open Stake or any two of the following, a first or second in an All-Aged or a first in a Novice Stake.
(2) Members’ second preference dog which have gained a first, second or third award in an Open Stake or any two of the following a first or second in an All-Aged or a first in a Novice Stake.
(3) Non-members’ first preference dog which have gained a first, second or third in an Open Stake or any two of the following, a first or second in an All-Aged or a first in a Novice Stake.
(4) Non-members’ second preference dog which have gained a first, second or third in an Open Stake or any two of the following, a first or second in an All-Aged or a first in a Novice Stake.
(5) Members’ dogs which have gained other awards.
(6) Non-Members’ dogs that have gained other awards.

MEMBERS: Members are those whose subscriptions are fully paid-up on the closing date for entries.

  1. Prizes: Certificates will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in every stake
  2. Except in the Championship, no handler may handle more than 2 dogs in a stake
  3. An owner unable to run should notify the Field Trial Secretary immediately.
  4. Bitches in season will not be allowed at the trial (ref J8b(2))
  5. After an applicant has been successful in the draw for a place in a Stake, or as a reserve has accepted an offer of a run, if the run is not taken up the applicant may become liable for the full entry fee if his or her place is not taken up by another competitor except:- (1) Where the applicant has qualified out of Novice Stakes (where applicable) or (2) Where the dog drawn to run has qualified for the Championship after entries have closed, or (3) On production of a Veterinary Certificate confirming that the dog entered for the Stake is unfit to compete, or (4) On production of a Medical Certificate that the applicant or the applicant’s nominated handler is unable to compete. (5) Where the dog drawn to run is withdrawn more than 7 days prior to the stake. (Regulation J7.f)
  6. Substitution of a dog will not be allowed for any stake after the draw has been conducted.
  7. All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.
  8. If entries exceed the number of permitted runners, the right to compete in a Trial shall be decided by ballot where preference will be given to current and fully paid-up members.
  9. Should circumstances so dictate the Society, in consultation with the judges, may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and the circumstances surrounding them will be reported to the Kennel Club.
  10. No modification may be made to the schedule after publication except by permission of the Kennel Club, followed by advertisement in appropriate journals if time permits before the closing of entries.
  11. Judges at a Trial are prohibited from entering a dog which is recorded in their ownership or part ownership.
  12. Videography and photography will not be permitted
  13. Welfare of Dogs - An exhibitor (or competitor) whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met and should not knowingly put their dogs’ health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. A breach of this Regulation may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.
  14. Dogs in Cars – your dog is vulnerable and at risk if left in a vehicle, even on days considered as slightly warm. Please take care of your dog. If you dog is found to be at risk, forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary, without liability for any damage caused.

TROPHIES: Will be recorded on the card and must be engraved at the holders expense, recording their dog’s win, and returned to the Secretary ahead of the next trialling season.

Any loss or damage of a trophy must be reported without delay in writing to the Secretary recording the circumstance giving rise to the loss or damage.

DRAWS: All draws will be conducted at the Retriever Secretary’s address at the time stated for each draw. A copy of the draw will be e-mailed to each applicant unless a stamped address envelope is enclosed with a postal entry, in which case it will be posted. The time and arrangements for the meet will be specified on the draw. The order of the draw will be the order of running for the relevant Stake.
